Hybrid Car Battery
Hybrid Car Battery: Environment Issue and Concern
When talking about hybrid cars, it’s always connected to the hybrid car battery because it’s the thing that keeps the vehicle running. Although some auto manufacturers combine the regular machines with the battery, the battery holds important role since it’s the one thing that provides electric current and keeps the electric motor running. Without the battery pack forgets that the hybrid car is even possible because there won’t be any source to provide the electricity. However, before talking further about hybrid car battery, there are several basic knowledge and thing people need to know about.
Hybrid Car Battery: Understanding the Battery and Its Role
The hybrid car battery is basically just the same as other batteries. The only difference is that this type of battery is quite big, it’s rechargeable, and it’s able to move quite big item. When using the battery, the auto manufacturer has to be sure that the battery is able to make the car cruise along the road perfectly, smoothly, and well. The term battery is usually referring to battery pack which becomes the house or container of many other smaller cells.
For better example, imagine this. The battery in the cell phone is a single cell battery, while the battery in laptops or other bigger devices are consisting of several cells that are working together. Lots of people think that the hybrid car battery is basically the same. Well, it’s true for the working principle, but the main substance and materials, and also the arrangement is different from one battery to another. For example, the battery in Toyota Prius Hybrid is certainly different from the battery in the Hybrid Toyota Highlander. Each hybrid car battery is designed and specified according to the company’s preference.
Hybrid Car Battery: How the Battery Works
As it was mentioned before, the hybrid car battery is basically just bigger and larger pack of battery. The battery has two electrodes to emit or collect the charge or power. The electrodes are basically close to each other so a separator is usually needed to prevent those electrodes from touching one another.
The separator is usually made of a polymer film. When there’s no separator, close circuit issue can happen. In between the electrodes, there will be a switch for on and off purpose to connect and bridge the electrodes. That’s how the basic reaction of electrochemical happens and that’s how the basic principle of hybrid car battery.
Hybrid Car Battery: Environment Issue
The hybrid car battery is created and designed so cars won’t emit dangerous emission gas that can be dangerous for the environment. Hybrid cars are said to produce less emission gas because electric power won’t create such emission gas; only fuel products that produce emission gas. That’s why many auto manufacturers say that the hybrid cars are safe for the environment.
However, the existence of the battery is still a threat for the environment since the battery consists of chemical materials that are toxic. Hopefully the landfill won’t be full of toxic batteries as the numbers of hybrid car battery increases.
